#014 Meet Brad Stulberg
Brad Stulberg is an expert in peak performance.
He’s the bestselling author of both Peak Performance and The Passion Paradox. In his performance coaching practice, he works with physicians, athletes, entrepreneurs, executives, and other professionals on their well-being and their mental skills.
He is also co-host of the popular Growth Equation Podcast.
Brad also happens to have obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). And while some professionals might be tempted to hide this fact (especially those who teach others how to manage anxiety), Brad has been very open about his struggles. He discusses what it’s like to have OCD and encourages anyone who has symptoms to seek help.
Some things Brad and I discuss:
“Emotional control tends to replenish after periods of rest. So whether it’s meditation, a walk in nature, or a good night’s sleep, you come back from those with more and better emotional control and regulation.”
“If you’re somebody that has perhaps been chronically rest deprived, your mind body system can adapt to that state. And you might not even realize that you’re deprived.”
“Becoming a better runner doesn’t happen when you’re actually running. It happens when you’re on the couch or when you’re sleeping.”
