#022 Friday Fix: 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do
Since today happens to be Friday the 13th, I thought it made a great opportunity to talk about the 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do.
People often ask me, “Why did you pick 13 things?” They think I picked the number 13 because of its association with being unlucky.
But that’s not the case. When I wrote the list, it was a letter to myself during one of the darkest periods of my life. I had no intention of ever making it public.
I’m glad I decided to share it. And I’m honored it resonated with so many people (the original article was read more than 50 million times).
As a therapist, I knew that what you do matters. But sometimes, what matters even more is what you don’t do.
And that can definitely be the case with mental strength. There are plenty of unhealthy habits that can drain you of the mental strength you need to be your best in life.
That’s what I’m focusing on today–the 13 things mentally strong people don’t do.
While we all do these things sometimes, it’s important to recognize how they’re impacting your life. Becoming more aware of your bad habits is the key to creating positive change.
After all, you’re only as good as your worst habit.
Giving up your worst habit or two will make your good habits much more effective.
In today’s Friday Fix you’ll discover how to give up the unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that might be holding you back from being your best.
“Reaching your greatest potential doesn’t necessarily require you to work harder by adding more good habits to your life. Instead you can work smarter by eliminating the habits that are keeping you stuck.”
“Challenge yourself to become a little better today than you were yesterday.”
