#053 Friday Fix: The Mentally Strong People Podcast Is Becoming The Verywell Mind Podcast
I wanted to start a podcast for a long time. I thought it’d be a great way to keep the conversation going after people read my books or heard me speak.
But there were never enough hours in the day to launch a podcast. I was too busy writing and traveling for speaking engagements.
The pandemic changed that though. Almost all my events were postponed or became virtual. And suddenly, I had enough time to start a podcast.
And in an interesting coincidence, I just happened to have an expert audio engineer nearby. Nick Valentin (the show’s producer) had been working with me for about six months before the pandemic hit.
He happens to be a great editor and content creator—but his real genius happens to be in the audio engineering department. When he’s not working with me, he’s creating GRAMMY-award winning albums with people like Marc Anthony and Pharrell Williams.
So we turned the sailboat (where I live) into a floating podcast studio and got to work recording episodes of Mentally Strong People.
Shortly after the show launched, Verywell Mind invited me to become their editor-in-chief. And they asked to partner on the podcast.
They’re the biggest mental health website in the world. More than 150 million readers visit their site every year.
I knew this was our opportunity to reach the biggest audience possible.
So starting next week, our show will be called The Verywell Mind Podcast. We’ll look a little different but we’ll continue to deliver top-notch content.
Today, I’m sharing the whole story about why this change means so much to me and what I hope we’ll be able to accomplish together.
