Develop Your Purpose with Retired NFL Player Tim Hightower

#033 Meet Tim Hightower
Tim is a former NFL running back who was drafted by the Cardinals in 2008. Before retiring, he also played for Washington and New Orleans.
I met Tim a few years ago and every time I talk to him he’s working on an interesting project. Lately, he spends a lot of time working with young people and encouraging people to create their purpose in life.
As a psychotherapist, many people tell me that they don’t know what their purpose is or that they feel like their life lacks meaning. So I wanted to bring Tim on the show to talk a bit about why purpose is important and how to find/develop a purpose.
Some of the things Tim and I talk about include:
- Why it’s important to have a purpose in life
- How to find/develop your purpose
- Why it’s important to have someone who believes in you
- How to find/create a community of people who have your back
- A simple strategy for helping you know what your purpose in life is
Quotes:
“I enjoy sitting with people. I enjoy talking to people. I enjoy finding out what makes them tick, what drives them.”
“Mental wellness, physical, emotional wellness. And so everything that I do, even if it’s real estate stuff, it’s all tied into helping people be the best that they can be and ultimately live their purpose.”
“People just want to know that they have somebody who believes in them and that they have somebody who they can go to.”
“We want to know that people believe in us.”
“There are all types of social groups that if you don’t necessarily have a friend or family. You can find groups where people have similar interests that you do.”
